Welcome to our website! As we have the ability to list over one million items on our website (our selection changes all of the time), it is not feasible for a company our size to record and playback the descriptions on every item on our website. However, if you have a disability we are here to help you. Please call our disability services phone line at (812) 376-7856 during regular business hours and one of our kind and friendly personal shoppers will help you navigate through our website, help conduct advanced searches, help you choose the item you are looking for with the specifications you are seeking, read you the specifications of any item and consult with you about the products themselves. There is no charge for the help of this personal shopper for anyone with a disability. Finally, your personal shopper will explain our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, and help you place an order if you so desire.

It all started in 1925 when Buck Wilson and Lena Thompson Wilson decided to buy the two southern corners of the intersection of 25 th and Central in Columbus, IN.

Buck and Lena wanted to start a furniture store and this was the location that they chose because they thought it was the best one that they could afford. Buck’s dad called him crazy saying that no one would ever come to the store since this location was in the middle of nowhere.

Fortunately they took the risk of buying this in the middle of nowhere property that was farmland and next to the fair grounds in Columbus. Today the corner of 25 th and Central is one of the busiest corners in Columbus.

Buck was an auctioneer and Lena ran the furniture store. The business officially started in 1927 with the intentions to provide Columbus and surrounding communities the highest quality furniture and mattresses at affordable prices.

Lena and Bucks son Claude Thompson continued the business. Claude and his wife Virginia Thompson ran the business until the mid 70’s when Virginia was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Claude and Virginia’s son Vic left the Air force to come back home to Columbus to continue the family furniture business. Vic updated the store and added lines to attract a younger customer. Vic continues to work at the store to this day.

In 2008 Vic and Susan Thompson’s youngest son Spencer joined the business. Today Spencer leads the business by offering quality furniture and mattresses at affordable prices while focusing on customer service!

In 2014 Spencer’s brother Nick joined the business. Nick and Spencer along with Vic work together to make Thompson Furniture and Mattress the best place to shop for furniture and mattresses for its customers from Columbus, Central Indiana and all over the United States with help of the Internet!

Thompson Furniture focuses on middle to high end domestically made furniture and mattresses while always offering the best customer service and putting the customer first. The business has stayed in the same family and same corner location since 1927 with the intentions to continue for many years to come.
