Founded in 1927, Thompson Furniture & Mattress has been a cornerstone of Columbus, IN providing high-quality furniture and exceptional customer service for nearly a century. What started as a small family business has evolved into a trusted source for beautifully crafted, domestically-made furniture and mattresses, serving the local community and beyond.

The story began when Buck Wilson and Lena Thompson opened their first store at the intersection of 25th and Central — an area considered remote at the time but now one of the busiest corners in Columbus. Against the odds, their vision and dedication to offering premium furniture at affordable prices led to the thriving business we know today.

Over the years, Thompson Furniture has remained a family-run operation, passing down from generation to generation. Buck and Lena’s son, Claude Thompson, and later their grandson, Vic Thompson, continued the legacy of quality and service. Today, Vic’s son, the fourth generation — Spencer Thompson — leads the business, staying true to their family’s values while keeping up with modern trends and customer needs.
